Culinary School Cover Lettter
At each of my trips I feel like a political candidate in presidential campaign ... between greetings, calls and other requests is not always easy to find its place or what to do ... We are both faced between the fear of being mistaken for a snob if you do not respond to invitations, but at the same time sometimes you just want to walk incognito (country misnomer) without responding to various calls more or less interested, such as "my brother is looking for a woman" and um yes??
But I think I started to really enjoy my life here, merchants of the neighborhood where I live are used to me and gives me more warm greetings pti few gifts in my shop.
Donc c’est un carrefour with a roundabout, which is located around small merchants, shops of all kinds, a small market with various colors and flavors, okra, pineapple, tomatoes, avocado, peppers, beans, cassava and yams and other vegetables. Here it is clear when one wants something is found. So between the butcher stalls selling grilled skewers, the stalls of women who sell fish braised, drug sellers, those who come after dark near the roundabout between the two lanes of traffic to sell shoes, vendors fritters (hummmm) and takeaways (drinking place where you can buy and eat in or at home, provided they take a deposit and return the bottle) can find anything you want ... All this small world provides a unique atmosphere, while the lively sounds of the music of taxis slalom between loops while the honking and that of takeaways in transition from cut-shifted. We live about 150 meters from the roundabout, where a bakery in which we buy bread every morning, internet where I spend my call is just around the corner and called the "Lord of the net" report to the Chapel located right next too. The roads are paved but to join the house we borrow a road accident by the torrential rains that befell the city because of the current rainy season.
So prices vary, starting
100 CFA francs = 1 = 0.15 € 200 FCFA for
5tomates (0.30 € CTMS)
300 FCFA for 2 large avocados (equivalent to 4 in France)
700 FCFA FCFA 5 fish braised
the donut (in fact it is tiny)
100 FCFA a small apple (it's actually quite expensive)
25 CFAF / minute on a landline in France
short taxi ride away = 100 FCFA for Cameroon (but 150 for me) race taxi
average distance = 200 250 FCFA
From FCFA 100 FCFA
cake bread
a 60 CFAF sweet donut (equivalent to 5 small)
900 FCFA box of Laughing Cow
350 FCFA box of two sardines
150 FCFA bus ticket
... .
I started to get my bearings and get used to this lifestyle. I must say that this is not always obvious because with my anti-malaria I'm really on edge, I alternate between periods "cockroaches" and phases where I am here like a fish in water! !
What is certain is that I think I am very fortunate to be here and I like Africa really!
Otherwise, often after my internship (8h-15h30) I just read a book in French cultural center and then I go by bus. I did not understand the bus system I do not understand the system just my understanding that I must take line 8, I go down to the crossroads and after I Obili 10 minutes walk. In fact I think the bus schedule did not really go off when they are full ... The last time was broken on 8 we waited standing in the queue leu-leu for at least an hour in direct sunlight for pile into the bus that arrived. Here we do not laugh when we enter the bus is in order of arrival (although they would laugh to see us form "heap" in France) so the last stand! I confess I prefer to wait for the bus and be seated, and c ' is mainly because for now I can be discovered after ...!
I leave Tuesday for the village and returned Sunday ... I certainly will tell you the progress of the funeral in Cameroon who have in common with France than the name
I kiss you hard

Mixing Potatoes With Raw Chicken
This week will not been easy, those who have done mails will have guessed, France, my family, my friends, my dude I miss them already ... As the mom of the pdt of the NGO where I am in training on Monday has died, so he went into the village to handle emergency procedures and I am remained in Yaounde with hours not much to do! So I'm bored and blues came galloping entire carrying me in nostalgia!
I tried to move but after the incident last Saturday I was a little calmer ...
Indeed, last Saturday we went with Flora the market to buy meat for the dogs, they have two dogs. Meat for the dogs in fact it was the calf tué avant que la vache n’ai eu le temps d’accoucher. Flora was before and she did not realize I was in this predicament, when she turned around and she saw me she came over to join me and was kickin the guy with short market scandal me like you know me I was hyper sensitive in all my statements I was really shocked because the time comes that Flora was really scary and the guy was violent, he I shouted above, left me no time to put one and he held me firmly and wanted my bag and camera. But more frightened than hurt you worry! I'll bien.Donc yes this unfortunate episode has left little trace, and this week I was not too in view of visit Yaounde solo ...
So Tuesday I found a guide in Raphael's brother Flora, student at Polytech. We went to the French Cultural Centre and the Embassy of France. We strolled and I got alpaguée full of people by the sounds of "darling" whitey "" white "sister" ... also since I'm here I have been married at least a small ten times! But when I told them that my heart is taken, they leave me alone
Wednesday I went back to the French cultural center refine my registration has not provided since the eve of photos I did not have my card and could not borrow a book! I actually spent in the aprem the library of the RTC or a moderator telling a story to children. At the end of history it offers children dancing and leaves the choice of dance I say cool it's gonna be fun to see them dance together ... yeah ben bof when the youngsters were asked to dance to the tectonik I tapped his head on the table telling me really despair oh why did it happen here? France she has nothing better to export??
Moral level (I reassure my mom) today okay, I'm blurry I took a taxi alone (the incident of the market is really an isolated here as the "whites" generally enjoy a very welcome supportive and sympathetic, cons by the market alone should be avoided) I went to Flore's work and we went to feast at the Yaounde CALAFAT The bakery, not that it is the only one, but because c is the best ... My HQ internship between Yarrow, opera, rolled chocolate, croissant, pain au chocolate .... I'm in my element in the land of sugar a real treat!
I have received several mails regretting the lack of photos on this blog actually is because the connection is too slow and cumbersome that the photos never have time to load, so I'll make a cd to my dude and send him as in that it can upload but it will not be until early July (we'll have to wait to see me with short hair little curious!) Otherwise, in a last hope I'll try the office of Flora who works for Camtel, Cameroonian national operator telephony equivalent of Orange
Also for the difficulty encountered when some want to leave comments on my blog I do not see any where that you can come. Lison could you explain how you do on your blogs?
Otherwise it will, even if I have trouble getting used to the food very very spicy Cameroonian wow (!!!) I admit that the meat does not go ..
But I feast with fried plantain and hummmmm and I discover new flavors, new textures, last week couscous (but here it is flour cooked in water and it makes a paste For those who was in Benin is the white stuff we ate and we have not loved Stephania said that it looked like polenta, and for those of Burkina's like tô) has indeed it did not have much taste it hot sauce that gives the flavor to the dish.
So last week was couscous fish sauce-chili-cabbage, I also tasted the nuts, flat bean from which I have already mentioned, the English dish water fufu heru sauce (pronounced and water fufu hero), the staff of cassava, fish braised in fact I leave you, I'll eat couscous (thus preparing a white flour but) okra sauce-smoked fish, shrimp
I embraces all very well

Replacing Brake Pads On Specialized Crossroads
Yaounde is an amazing town ...
As I said earlier it is a city in turmoil. Everywhere there are things to do, everywhere there are things to see. The center is equipped with markets, shops, boulevards, buildings and other structures that make me think of France, small gambling dens called takeaways you buy or drink and is consumed on site or at home.
Cameroonians living outdoors! Everyone is out everywhere not a place without a soul, no children hounds, who plays without a street vendor there ... everywhere in the world.
Along the roads we find merchants who walk on the heads of which are skillfully packed fritters, fabrics, gadgets, clothes and ... makeshift stalls where you can savor the grilled fish, pineapples, avocados, donuts, beef skewers.
the evening at dusk in small markets are born here and there, lit a few lamps scattered on the walls or through kerosene lamps positioned on the stalls all under one air-shifted cut: that's the Africa that is what I like!
The colors, the smells, the atmosphere, that fever which hangs over us all and takes us ...
Yaounde teeming with taxis. They are very numerous, they circulate in every direction, zigzag, led by an interpretation of the rules of the road very personal, they are yellow and take several clients at the same time, for a reasonable way you can get away for 200 FCFA (2 French francs or 30 euro cents). Life is cheap here, the calls cost a 250 FCFA in France for 10 minutes or 2.5 French francs or just over 30 cents is ridiculous!
Businesses are hundreds of thousands, it's going to the fishmonger, the seller freezer, via the internet cafe, phone card vendor, the seamstress, the carpenter, the cook who sell their donuts and other typical foods, the vegetable seller, the seller of fruit ... in short everything you want to find ... we find in the street!
Slowly I take my bearings, acclimatization is not easy, it's true. I Loved the Blues Crossing empty but that's normal is the beginning. And my internship starts just hope to get involved fully in the projects of the association.
Yaounde is a maze, but lo and behold I start to have some benchmarks ... I know even go to my place of internship is ok to walk straight (!)
But it's not won, Yaounde is huge, it covers 15 sq km but maybe the next 4 months I'll get (good on that I always lose in Flines lez Raches yet since I know 5 years but there is hope ...)
In any case I think you very well ... if you want to write me I can give you my mailing address!
Colour Selector For Braces
the village life is like frozen in time, we enter a new dimension a new aspect of African life ... A key consideration for all Cameroonians. Indeed, as I already have said the village to a particular connotation, even for city dwellers for whom it represents the roots, a real anchor.
village life is as if deprived of that special excitement that prevails in Yaounde, here in the quiet village overlooking the calm ... And in Yaounde it is hard to find! This city is in turmoil, people everywhere, motorcycle taxis everywhere, shops everywhere, street vendors everywhere, children everywhere ... every corner of the city is operated!
This is quite different from village life more serene and peaceful away from all the excitement, and yes to three hours we are immersed in Africa "Deep" (in the sense of the term) an Africa full of traditions, customs. In the village, even if the house is equipped with electricity and water (through a water tower that collects rainwater) the time is suspended. For women, the days are punctuated by the preparation of meals. Even if the house we're staying has electricity it is still less than the cooking is done over a wood fire ... Too bad the pictures are too long to load ...
Also, since when is village everyone going to say hello and that everyone must eat, must be able to provide food to all visitors so that the quantities to be prepared are staggering ... The days are mostly spent on meal preparation, preparation even longer than women leave ingredients in their natural state so unrefined. Thus
to prepare a peanut sauce will: Toast nuts in ensuring that they do not crament, take away their brown envelope, then crush them to remove a soft dough ... which is actually quite laborious and time consuming.
For example, watch in hand to prepare the hull a specialty Cameroon prepared from a variety of white bean (it looks like a little bean cassoulet speed) for two people it takes 3 hours from the start of the preparation and tasting .
This lifestyle suits me a few days, I need to move! I'm bored here in the village. Even if through a telephone connected to the internet I was able to connect to the village I do not hide my joy back to Yaounde ...

Dune Buggy Laws In Ca
Why such a title?
I wanted to find the equivalent of white Cameroon to introduce the title of my blog is like a Toubabou (Burkina Faso) or Yovo (Benin) but Cameroon is rich in meadows than 220 ethnic groups is a country where about 200 languages are practiced so from this statement I gave and I gave this task to my friends who have taken up the challenge so humorous and I thank them ... A big kiss to Jérémy
I arrived in France Friday 20h after a stopover in Zurich and a surprise call that I have seen the morning in Douala (I had not read my post).
Here in this latter period in Cameroon, night falls much earlier than in France between 18h and 19 hours, but here people start the day early around 5 or 6 am (those who know me know that ca will be very difficult for me to get used to the rhythm).
So frankly I do not have much detail to tell you Yaounde on since I saw him the night and I barely had time to cross the next day to reach the village, which is native family welcomes me.
That said, I have come to realize that Yaounde was surrounded by seven hills, each defining a neighborhood and it was a very, very green city: the vegetation is everywhere: banana, mango trees and other flowers of all kinds dominate the city resting on the hills. The city has infrastructure facilities comparable to Western cities, paved roads, clean streets, buildings, universities and colleges including the Ecole Polytechnique, monuments and historic buildings sites (Thomas I could see the Hilton opened in 1989 and BEAC have not had time to take pictures but I promised to come back or I do not return, and I miss my Doude as I have your photos!)
The city covers nearly 15 miles and each district is bounded by hills. While classes occupy the spaces below, people are better off with height. Yaounde Airport is located approximately 20km from Yaounde but is joined by a paved and lighted le trajet est relativement rapide (compter une grosse demi-heure tout de même)
Les camerounais sont très attachés the village where they were born is truly a landmark and a place of sociability. It includes family, friends, is also the place of family events such as bereavement or a happier marriage. Here in Cameroon funerals are quite different from ours. Indeed Saturday on the road we made a stop to attend the mourning (that's how we say here) the father of a friend of Flora and Raymond. At the village entrance a banner joined two power poles above the road to prevent the death, the date and place of mourning. So when we arrived so not very quiet (and if yes in Lille I go incognito, you notice me here soon!) so there were several hundred people attending a day of mourning. Because here's funeral last by ethnic group and by region all day all punctuated by prayers, folk songs, statements in honor of the deceased and the mass.
So we spent a few days Bandjoum where I could enjoy life in the village ...
