Alexis Texas With An African Woman

GAZETTE CAMEROON, WEEK 3

EDITORIAL

I promised myself (and I promised you) released a new issue of The Gazette of Cameroon (LGDCAM) each week. Sunday night, I had unfortunately not been able to open Word. Laziness and fatigue (due to hot and humid climate: no malaria in sight!) Had the better of me. The courage came back Tuesday night, but the Muses were not with me and I managed to get a product to the humor impaired and who have given me the image of an expat 'disillusioned (at opposite of my current mood). This article will not be published.
But your patience will pay, since I have the honor to announce today the creation of the first Topic beginnings of a blog-based (at least) international. Happy reading and please post your comments in letters to the editor.

Benoit Lasserre

EMPLOYMENT

Benoit Lasserre resumed the reins of Industrial Missions
My first week working at ISTAC had been rather quiet with the support missions of the Industrial period spent . It was nevertheless an opportunity for me to get familiar with this type of activity, understand the stakes for both students and pour les entreprises.
J’ai aussi endossé my costume to accompany the manager in the hunt for checks: my role is also to ensure the smooth settlement of MI by companies. Finally, the monitoring of MI begins: classification conventions, sending invoices for MI start-ups, interviews with students, tutors or coaches ISTAC company, organization, reviews of project reviews of the week 4, etc. In some ... week will begin the hard work: canvassing businesses. Objective: To find 10 MI September. A long process ... apparently
After an early mission where I tended to get bored and not knowing how organize myself, I start to really get into the position. Nicolas (who looked after the MI so far) continues to be there to remind me to do one thing or another, to give me advice or accompany me in the first interviews with business, but it fades gradually. Work interests me more as and when I take in hand the different responsibilities: a good omen!

A newcomer to the orphanage Hand in hand
This Wednesday I went for the first time at the Jesuit parish for my time ¼ JVI. In the morning, the father Ignatius accompanied me to the orphanage Hand in hand. We met Mama Nomo (Cameroon, called Mama all women a little older), the founder and director of the structure. We discussed with her a long time: it's really a great woman! Born into a poor background, she had the opportunity to study in France. Guided by a heart disproportionate and a revolt against the status quo of society, she engaged in several projects in Cameroon: establishment of a workshop for the reintegration of prisoners or the orphanage. I think I will have the opportunity tell you about it at greater length another time. After this meeting, we toured the facility. It receives about fifty children, but only the little ones were present as well as children or young people who had more difficulty in school and who are given training in sewing in the same orphanage. On Wednesday afternoon, there are more people.
I spent the rest of the day in the parish. First meeting with Fr Igantius, and William and Bruno (EJ!), Both responsible for culture and sport to the Parish Council on Youth (CPJ). The afternoon I was invited Dining at the rectory. I enjoyed the palm wine (juice harvested on the palm and slightly fermented): sweet, tangy, not too alcoholic (well it depends on her age!), Excellent!
the afternoon, I met the Commander Augustine (President of the association of Catholic men of the parish and is responsible for monitoring new paintings in the church) and Joachim and Peter Damian, the two painters. I also had extensive discussions with Marcelin, the youth leader of the Sacred Heart, a group of parishioners and then with Hervé, President of the CPJ and responsible Charismatic Renewal. It appears that groups of youths from the parish rather meet during the weekend: Saturday and especially Sunday. The activity is low on Wednesday afternoon. That's why I came back to see Mama Nomo late afternoon: I spend my Wednesdays at the orphanage to do animation with toddlers in the morning, with children and teens post afternoon. I can not wait!
I will not leave the parish so far. Maybe I'll lend a hand to Bruno for the group MEJ and anyway Hervé and P. Ignatius keep me informed of any meetings that I will be able joindre.

SORTIES

Néanmoins, je profite abusivement des propositions qui y sont faites, ayant déjà à mon actif une conférence sur le Bwiti (sorte de médecine locale emmenant the patients near death and comparable to the Peruvian ayawasca), a screening of Harry a friend who wishes you well and the famous concert Pauline Croze. In addition to meetings and spiritual healing, these two years will be cultural!

Bonantone Bars: The Monument and the Escale
The apartment has beautiful perfect comfort level, it has the drawback of being dark and then to remain locked up, I tend to "flipping out". I need to get out and it's nice to go have a drink with 2 steps of the house. Aerate a little, enjoy the atmosphere of the neighborhood, discuss with neighboring Cameroon and of course enjoy a Top Grapefruit less cumbersome in the heat of the night: nothing better to relax and quietly enjoy the weekend. A 400 FCFA (0.60 €) consoli, I can only urge you to come have a drink at the Monument or the Landing!

MEETINGS

First steps in the Cameroonian population
Since the time I told you about! I would not say I created a circle of friends Cameroonians, but I gradually began to make my network. A
ISTAC, the atmosphere is really good. I take the time joke with my colleagues, we eat rice or other dishes with more local Aisha lunch. I also began to experience some students, especially the third year of work on MI. Several times they asked me to accompany them to the football Friday night. I almost go there on Friday. Next time I'll be there for sure, even if I know anyone and I am the only teacher and that I can not play soccer and I'm tired ... and so on. A
Bonamoussadi, I begin to know a few people. As I said earlier, I had the opportunity to meet and Marcelin Hervé. This type of meeting changes in the school. We have more time to talk and we talk a little more equal. A little more, but not completely, including Marcelin. Is it just me, is that it comes from him, he is still that boy, one year my senior vous me. He respects me, he who could not go to the CAP in the absence of masonry, because I have done extensive studies. We do not choose the environment in which it was born. While he fights every day selling bananas or making comedy shows at weddings to pay for the 12,000 FCFA his rent, I pay the luxury to spend those two years living "modestly" with 200,000 FCFA and the apartment already paid. I still realize how lucky I am.
I also had the chance to meet Natalie, my neighbor's plane in Cameroon ajnvier 2. She was educated in France and currently works in the USA, she spent her vacation at home. I had the opportunity to see her in Douala and to continue the discussions we had in the plane (but familiarly by this time!) And I should meet her sister Ingrid (who works here) very soon .

TRAVEL

Tour anglophone region
I met the Commander Augustine (former commander in the army, hence his nickname) last Wednesday. We had the opportunity to discuss (in English, because Augustine is the South-West, English-speaking area) a little while we shared a glass of palm wine with Fr Ignatius and the two painters. On Saturday he had to go to Buea where he had a meeting for the 70 years of college (the oldest of Cameroon) and he asked me to accompany him.
We left at 7 o'clock in the mornin 'on Saturday, direction Buea and the South West.
Autant vous dire que le coin était assez étendu, d’autant plus having reached the last house of the group, I followed a little path that disappeared into the forest. "Scout one day, Scout forever! "I went on an adventure that still care not too far off the path (some experience in the Pyrenees helicopter taught me to be careful). I did not go very far anyway, stopping every 2 minutes to take a picture: I had to make you share it! Back from my adventure in the jungle, I met two college students with whom I have discussed in English ... of course!
The next weekend, nothing special for now, but a meeting to Makak (north of Yaounde) is scheduled for late March and by then I'll probably see past friends of Dschang!

Lime Iro Senkitan Uncensored Version

Gazette Cameroon, Week 1

"And m ... no more water! . It is true that Murphy's law requires, it always happens when the shower, laundry or dishes, but we soon learn to organize: filtered water supplies for drinking, big buckets of water for the shower. Then gradually this kind of minor annoyance melts into everyday life and then into perspective pretty quickly.

Indeed, in the middle district of Cameroon, our apartment is really luxurious 2 bedrooms, lounge, large kitchen, a bathroom with shower (cold of course, but by a hot shower 30 ° C would have an interest in it?). Our? Yes, I forgot to introduce my roommate Matt, who also works at ISTAC. And then there 's also Fleur, a nurse who keeps us company the time to find an apartment. Live just above Nicolas (another colleague), Emmanuelle (OT) and their daughter Naomi. Small island lost in white Bonantone (district of Douala, http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartier_de_Douala ).

Matthew Flower and Coffee "The Ship"

Here, the houses all have the same corrugated iron roof. But this is not specific to Bonantone: even Bonapriso, the district expat and rich Cameroon, houses all sing the same song when specific tropical downpours come. Seen from above, these gray roofs give a monotone and appearance of slums. But when it comes down and wanders the streets, the mood changes completely: small shops where they sell eggs, drinks, hardware stores, small restaurants, cyber (without coffee!), Barbers, sellers of oranges or sticks (single cigarettes) call boxes (African concept of renting portable minute) ... Douala is not a dead city. And if you doubt, taxi and motorcycle taxi you recall, whether to offer up or advise you to store not get knocked down!
View from my room
View from the apartment and Emmanuelle Nicolas

Every morning (except on weekends anyway), I therefore take the taxi (200 FCFA € 0.30 or so the race) with Matthew and Nicolas direction based Total Bassa on the premises of which is the ISTAC. During the trip, we might be in town is the jungle! No lights, no signs, no priority right: we advance the forcing. One rule: you drive to right ... then when we do not doubt that over the threshold ... In any case it sure is better than a video game: adrenaline constantly. Pedestrian crossing is "2 times more pleasure, but remember to watch 50 times and 50 times left to right!

arrived at ISTAC, it is the holidays! Finally just for me and just for that week. It was the support missions Industrial (MI) and 3rd year internship. So I mainly participated in these defenses, which allowed me to have a clearer picture of the pedagogy of MI and begin to identify some heads. For even if a small school (classes of 40 students), it makes a lot of names to remember. I have an air-conditioned office (and the scarf still around her neck!) That I shared with two colleagues Cameroon: Prof. Louis-Aimé 'math prof and Augustus' computer. But rather I work with Nicolas who was responsible for MI in the previous semester. For lunch, I eat with Nicolas and Matthew or girls Administration (Nadine 1 and 2, Christine and Marie-Chantal) in the restaurant Aisha: rice with tomato sauce and spiced by day fish or meat. In the afternoon, I go back to school peacefully. But hey do not worry, I'm starting to really work next week: I have an appointment with a company in the forest (operating oil palm and rubber) on Tuesday. I will tell you that!

The ISTAC for entry

ISTAC The view of the parking

Otherwise, my time is preparing ¼ gradually. I went to see Father Ignatius Jesuit Parish Bonamoussadi Thursday night. He is a priest young, dynamic, friendly and very interesting. He is responsible for his young ward (10 000 faithful!) And 4 other towers. He spoke of the 16 youth groups in his parish, plans a major center of human and intellectual training for young, poor and rich, and then also his country, Cameroon. From the perspective of the mission is just me who will build gradually my post. At first, I should spend Wednesday morning at the orphanage or hospital, reserving the afternoon for the animation of youth groups. First impressions Wednesday 8!

But hey, that's not at work, we must not forget WE! A by sleep (the climate quite tired), I discovered a little town. Whether to go cyber shopping for in Desire (our dealer in fruits and vegetables) and Meno (the baker), I do not miss an opportunity to get out. With my roommate, I also discovered two "small" bars very nice with a superb view of the Wouri and fishermen: first images of a beautiful country. And the discovery also involves food. Grilled Mackerel (with the fingers is much better!), Fried plantains, sweet potato, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit not to mention the inevitable Top Pineapple, Grapefruit grenadine (soda): I go from one discovery.

cathos What my friends are reassured, the WE is also an opportunity to go to mass. Enthusiasts Masses flash 'songs and without looping in ¼ hour refrain: here is local choirs for 2 hours on Sunday regardless. 2 hours, it may seem long, but the songs are so beautiful that it goes alone. What strikes elsewhere in Cameroon, is the omnipresence of religion. Of course we come across places of worship everywhere: Jehovah's Witnesses right next to the house, evangelical church 5 minutes, Catholic church to ¼ hour walk, etc. ... But when the neighbors are too loud music is often Christian songs, radio was indeed a decade of "RCF" different in bars nobody comes screaming from the boss when pop music is clearly labeled Christian. Here, religion is an integral part of everyday life and it's always funny when you come from a country like France.

That was a summary of my first impressions of Cameroon. Meetings are little by little by little: colleagues from work for First, the parish of Bonamoussadi in 10 days and certainly other ways to create a genuine exchange Franco-Cameroonian
... I leave you with this little mouthing. Take care and see you next week!

Where To Get A Pikachu In Crystal

As an intro

CoopéRencontres ...
I was told that it took only 5 minutes to create a blog. Less than 5 Similarly, forced to see. Except if, like me, it takes 3 hours to find the name. It could be "2 years of meetings," "Cameroonian encounters", "BenOCam" ... This will ultimately CoopéRencontres.

But why a blog anyway? Some of you already knew, Other expected, others ask questions about my sanity, it is always that I go (well I left there 's three days!) for 2 years of cooperation with Cameroon Youth International Volunteers (JVI) and the Catholic Delegation for Cooperation (DCC).
During these two years I will spend a large chunk of my time at Higher Institute of Technology Central Africa (ISTAC). Within this new school dingénieur I'll see Industrial Mission (IM: yes it actually acronyms ...), studies must realize that students in the last year for a company that works locally. In fact, the motto of ISTAC is "train in Africa for Africa" is not great as a development project?
The fourth time remaining, I'll be on the Jesuit parish of Douala (Cameroon in my hometown) where I'll deal with youth groups and / or go visit people in prison.
Part of my mission to help develop, among other disadvantaged people: I'm thrilled! : D

2 years of cooperation, 2 years of meetings, exchanges of 2 years, 2 years of discovery, 2 years of thinking about myself, 2 years to deepen my relationship with God, 2 years that I will try to you forward!
