Easter in Fontem

You may ask me why I wrote this article in English. I did this for several reasons. First, some of my friends are Polish, English, Portuguese or Italian and most of them don’t understand French. The other reason is that I spent the Easter week-end in Fontem, South-West region, in the English-speaking area of Cameroon. In fact people don’t speak eminent English of Great-Britain: they speak Pidgin, which is a kind of Creole derived from English. As I don’t speak Pidgin at all, I wrote in English. Nevertheless, Alice or Elise may help me for the next article about Fontem.
My week-end began on Friday, as it was Holy Friday which is holiday in Cameroon. Elsa (a French girl who works for Orange), Karine and Jonathan (2 French volunteers who work with orphaned monkeys), Matthieu and I left Douala at 7 to go to Dschang (West region). They stayed in Dschang and I took the bus to Fontem: 2 hours trip on a “road “of earth. I finally discovered Fontem which is a big village staying in the mountain (Cf. photos in the Fontem album), with its houses of earth, and of course its hospital. In addition, Fontem is one of the coldest spots of Cameroon: while walking outside in the night just after the Easter mass, I had to wear a pullover!!! (Brrrr…).
I arrived only 30 minutes late at the Holy Friday mass where I met Alice, a DCC volunteer who works as midwife at the hospital. While coming back to her home, we met several of her colleagues who saluted me with their “welcome”: the atmosphere is so different from Douala’s! I spent the evening with Alice as her cotenant Elise (DCC nurse) worked at the hospital.
On Saturday, we had lunch by a Mum and ate the “wata foufou” : small ball of “manioc” (sorry I didn’t’ find the translation ) with “the vegetable” cooked with red oil (I can’t tell you which vegetable it was : it seems that every green vegetable is called “vegetable” even if there are many different green vegetables in Cameroon). Just after the lunch we walked to the water falls (have a look at the beautiful photos!). Unfortunately the rain began to fall when we arrived. Nonetheless Elise and I jumped into the river. Of course the rain stopped just after the dip (Cf. Murphy law!). The day finished with Easter mass: 4 hours in Pidgin (fortunately we had our “Prions en Eglise”!)… But what a wonderful mass! About 100 baptisms and 10 weddings (in a 5000 inhabitants village!), beautiful hymns and joyfulness everywhere: the Catholic Church of Cameroon is alive!
I left Fontem on Sunday, early in The Morning. (At least) 14 hours of transportation for only 36 hours in Fontem: was it worth? Yes: "I Went, I saw and I loved Fontem" ;-).
I hope you Spent a nice Easter time too. See you!

3 Examples Of Shark Abiotic Factors

... The days pass and do not look alike ...

And yes ... the bye, the last time enchainent and leave me a taste especially ...
envy of even the desire to love the last time!

Want to say goodbye again to my friends, still want to hug the people I love ...

But I'm the queen of the last times! Dude promised one last kiss for real the last "," One last candy go for real this is the last of the last "but after him there was always another and then another ... I am a very sweet tooth, an ETERNAL GREEDY! Greedy, as many of the pleasures of life. But this time, he'll have one last time, I'll have to go!

And then 4 months is hardly a season, it goes fast, especially when the days are punctuated by encounters, discoveries, moments of exchange and sharing ...

approach D-Day and every day I realize how lucky I am able to leave again in Africa. O beautiful red earth as I love you and like you I am passionate!

Then maybe you'll wonder why a blog? Well I confess, I also asked Lison ... It gave me the idea, I thought, the idea came and I told myself: WHY NOT?
Yeah it could be an opportunity to share this rich and unique experience with my friends and family and can be also with people who fall there, the chance of a click ... And yes, the chance is sometimes good things.

I hope you have as much fun to read than I am, I had to share with you those moments of life.

So, friends, I tell you good reading and as they say in Cameroon "When you do not know where you're going, look where you came from"

Sayings For Paper Plate Awards

World Champion!

Wowwww! Our loyal fans can be proud! I begin by telling you our amazing day yesterday.

15h Check the hotel yesterday: we are top crinquées for slalom ... Video review of the day we were ready. 15h to 17h: analysis of a long journey, punctuated by lengthy discussions with our coach JP. The course was not quite as we expected but ... it adapts easily.

First run: route still "clean", of course good start but we ran out the door number 9, after a cross on a big wave surfing as we cut little paper case too early. The gate 11 takes us a long way round but ... we do it anyway. So after the first round, we were satisfied but we knew we could do better ...

We really crinquées team and the second run was almost perfect! We made only two buttons for 5 seconds!! At the time, we were really fast: very near the gates everbearing red, no detour, we really knew we had done well!

After a moment of confusion, the results were not really clear, we knew! We are first in the slalom world!! First before the Slovak and Czech!! Canada, which defeated the Eastern slalom! Some officials have said that JP was really good! Not to mention the encouragement Boubou French, Boubou thank you!!

This victory rewarded us for our efforts in the slalom, for our team, for the dedication of our coach! What satisfaction! You can imagine the Canadians much exalted and screaming loudly!

It therefore goes to the medal ceremony! We were trying to guess our overall scoring, but hey, we did not know! On our arrival there, Bubu came to see us simply list overall with the results! WE ARE THE WORLD'S FIRST OVERALL!! ahead of Japan in second and third Czechs! It is our consistency in all events that allowed us to have this result! The first step of the podium, it's quite an honor! Wow wow wow

! Then the medal ceremony was the colors of canada:
-3e-3e sprint

-confrontation in the first slalom
first-place overall!
lot of medals but also a lot of really big trophies back to Quebec. So that our world has ended 2009. A big thank you firstly to Jean-Philippe Turcotte, our coach, for his time, his patience, his energy but also for his many skills and experiences that have allowed us to walk up to the title of world champion! Thank you to our sponsors, TEVA, Stohlquist, WRSI and NRS. thank you to our families and friends who continually support us in the completion of our biggest dream and we believe that the adventure will continue again ... Stay tuned!

Where To Buy A Chapstick Holder

May 21, 2009 - The Downriver!

Phew! How epic! Before I tell you in detail our expedition on the river Tara, we thank all our loyal supporters who write comments. Thank you very much, they are always appreciated and give us encouragement essential!
We visited Bosnia thoroughly. From top to bottom, and not once but twice!
Our journey began on 20 in the morning at 5:00 (am I specify ...). The rendezvous was in a parking lot near the hotel. Obviously, the departure was only launched at 5:45 ... Punctuality is not a core value here.
We have embarked on a bus with 4-star guys the Bosnian "safe". To put the rub on the trip, we ended up doubting their ability to ensure our security. Perhaps because he drank beer for a good part of journey, starting about 9:00 am ...
The bus ride was an actual duration of 7 hrs. It's long. Especially when you have to listen to Bosnian music loudly.
During the bus trip, we made several stops, including one in Foca where we had the incredible chance to show off for a second Once in the streets of the city. People were once again very excited to see us, greeting us and encourage us. The Bosnians are very nice people, even if their music is really bad.
After this little parade, we returned to the bus routes furrow frankly suspicious of Bosnia. From that moment, the scenery was fabulous! The Tara River Canyon is worth the trip (maybe not 7 hours of detour, but still). People say it is the second most beautiful canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon and it is hard to contradict. Canyon forces, roads are crossed, very narrow especially when one is traveling in a bus ...
Finally, we arrived at base camp. Built in a valley near the river, seven or eight companies rafting camps coexist with the more rustic than each other. After roughly
defeated our luggage, we headed to the put in the downriver. Small clarification: the put in is in Montenegro. It was therefore necessary to bring our passports and train with us on the River. It's weird ... It was also very scared of having to show our passports in the downriver, but finally we enter illegally in Bosnia ...
This time, we have forsaken the comfortable Bus Travel ... a burgundy westfalia no window to the fashion of the country. Only local drivers were allowed to drive on this road. The road actually beat the record. Many
road, leading over the river at around 5:00 in the evening. The river was beautiful, though a bit cold. Like in the movies, the river water was turquoise. The same turquoise as the Gatorade "Frost".
This section of the river is a series of Class II-III in almost continuous. Very nice but not very impressive fast side. Still, we watched the lines (and landscape) in preparing the best for tomorrow.
Back at base camp with one of the best dinners provided by the organization to date: fish and potatoes!
Then, sleep overnight. The alarm clock will soon. 6:30.
the morning, yet the road westfalia. The departure of downriver wife was about 10:30. We left between Great Britain and the Slovaks. In the same wave as us, there was also the Czechs and the Netherlands, short, all good teams. The initial game plan worked well, that is to say beyond Great Britain as soon as possible. We have taken the lead for a few rapids. In a fast, we took a straight line while passing was faster on the left. We entered into a wave that has slowed, resulting in the Netherlands and Great Britain are beyond us. We find ourselves behind Great Britain on the dish that we slowed down and the Slovaks are beyond us. It goes a little less:)
Further, the Czechs also beyond us. We meet our fifth wave for a long time. Teams distance themselves, but we do not lose the Great Britain. A little before you see the finish, we are closer to Britain, the fire in your eyes! Succeeded in overtaking a curve. We keep the fourth place until the end, the Netherlands in the lead.
The finish comes after 50 minutes de descente.

Buy Evening Gowns For Large Breasts

May 19, 2009 - Time Trials (3rd) and Sprint (3rd)!

Wow, big day done! We just gather strength by paying large lasagna before being able to give you details ... is going to ...

survey earlier (6h00. .. for those who know Nat - not easy!) A good espresso and en route to sprint! The cons watch went well, the line is not perfect but finished 3rd just 1sec26 the Netherlands (which has greatly improved since 2 years). In the second, that our friends the Cheka (grrrrr!).

So this gives us the advantage of the line for our first match is 3 against 11 or cons with the Norway captain Val Bertrand! As background, a platform was installed center-left of the river against the tide by creating a much more intense for the left line, thus greatly disadvantaged because the starting line right enjoyed almost entirely from the flow stream.

So go! we move forward from the start but the output waves (about 50 strokes at the end ... you lose slightly water vein) which ensures that our time is lower in the U.S. for second confrontation.

It is left with the departure of left against the States. Starting with a contact ... it is the second wave of entry but an error of U.S. output allows us to catch up ... fight again on the flat ... and Yes ... one is to finish first. One of the only teams to have won the day with the departure of the left. This leads us in the semi-final against Great Britain, it is ensured by 2 runs.

Because of our intense battles, it still has the disadvantage of the line and this time, though luck does not smile this time ... we finished just behind Great Britain. So we are headed for the final bronze.

Are you still in the hanger ... Well this time it was the right line because of our previous time. This time against the Russians ..

Ready ... Go! Small confrontation at the outset, it is ahead ... Output difficult ... return equal .. wham! wham! we took the lead, until finsh line! Yeah, bronze.

For those who know the system, the score has changed this year ... is 100 points for and 200 against time for confrontation. we are the only team time trial of the top 3 to return to the top 3 so we are currently 2nd overall ... giving us the second choice of departure for the descent into 2 days.

You write not so much for the next 48 hours, in part expétition. Rather anything really. We leave tomorrow morning at 5 - to 6-hour drive to Montenegro (south) to parade again in this new place and not provide tracking down 4-5h before tomorrow night! It's crazy!

For accommodation, it seems to be tents or small shacks with meals you do not know what '+ jeep ride to bring us close to the start, a way of indeterminate departures, an organization that we have prepared bags of food for two days (it bodes very badly ...) Anyway, we will be burnt when we return here Thursday night. Send us energy ... it has needed!

for ceremonies that will take place the last Thursday or Saturday, then look no pictures, it was not our new treasures! Morale is good, just disappointed with the turn of the next few days.

Yes we have the second and bronze so far ... and we have proven our starts TODAY, hui qu, we are strong! a +

Mucus Day Before Period

Finale du Championnat c'est pour cette semaine

Gift For Man Hospital Stroke

First official day - May 17, 2009

Briefly ... a very long day is over. If you have been mentioned as transport were not easy, though yesterday was the icing on the cake! To get to our training in the morning, it took 30 minutes to walk a big sun (about 29-30 degrees) to go rafting club. This is called a warming!
arrived at the club, we could see an old compatriot as many know Val Bertrand. It is always the same! Then, 20 minutes by bus to get to the sprint. The section is really nice, it was hot and many teams in the line-up! 2 runs 2 minutes, our lines were beautiful and dine under the intense heat + sunburn to go! Then pass to board in a shuttle back to the "bridge" the point closest to our villa - so 20 minutes walk. But Eureka, a local bus driver took pity on us and left us at the door (he knew where we lived!). Oops, we left the guys in the sprint derrrière us with the keys! Long live the great windows that open!

Then a van for 7 people finally came to pick us ... ideal for 15 people with 2 bags each plus mega paddles! Our dear mayor (and neighbor, and best fan) helped to bring us back to the "bridge" to wait for a bus ... a bus FULL! (It was really sad, her son cried after we left qu'il nous a informé ... on a vraiment marqué cette famille par notre présence, on les a même revu à la cérémonie en soirée. Ils seront assurément nos plus grands fans à chaque épreuve!!!) Mais comme ils ont dit... "you have to compress!!"

Toutes les tables sont prises, il fait +40, people smoke in the room, there could almost Chow and eat the sandwich! yes!

Then we went to the starting point for opening ceremonies. We advance with a raft and children in a street crowded on the sidewalks cheering ... short, nearly one kilometer of people everywhere! super awesome! Canada has a really good reputation here, everybody loves us. our military operations and reconstruction of past years are widely recognized. The United States meanwhile were booed when they arrive in the "stage".
ceremony simple and effective, but impressive by the amount of people in the streets. Now 18, is the official day of practice sprint. For 4 days we paddle under sweltering heat, so it's rest! We just get a good breakfast, and we're going to visit a little with our tour guide (really stressed out but nice) who is there to help us with the language. As for guys, ouffff ... we would not have theirs. They are led from the tip of the nose ... ! Comical! They look for strategies to sow at every opportunity!

so soon ... more news after the sprints tomorrow!

Free Voleyball Cameltoe

First of all, sorry for the slight delay but the Internet requires some logistics. The first step is to borrow a pink bike with added flags of Canada or a bike with the pedals as eighth in the world to get to the internet ... short, we're finally here. The whole team is in perfect shape and Bosnia will become certainly a tourist destination to be monitored by the splendor of its landscapes. To reassure parents and friends, this country does not leave very little trace of its wartime past. Only a few houses still show these dark years. The

Teams arriving more and more since our arrival. Brazil, Germany, Russia, the U.S. and Great Britain was already there when we arrived, but every day we review some familiar faces and new teams. There should be more girls' teams with the presence of Denmark, Bosnia, Japan, Venezuela and Costa Rica as new teams. Besides, the Japanese team informed us they did a lot of video in the last year from our videos!

Side organization, is well worthy of the last world with the difficulty of having good logistics shuttle go to practice because we are still in the days not official. Communication is difficult but we are working on our Bosnian quietly. It learns new words every day.

For facilities, FOU ... COMPLETELY CRAZY!! Imagine they built a site slalom amazing! Located in one of several canyons, it is lit from top to bottom (the race will be tonight). The strings are metal wires connected to stakes in the cliff, with wooden stairs, platforms every 20m, platforms, etc.. The Bosnians are working hard to reach in time. In one day, they were paved parking lot yesterday ... ok in the company stopping many times to admire the girls team in bikini top to sunbathe until the shuttle!

For now, we sleep with the locals. In fact, it was a beautiful yellow villa belonging to the mayor of the community where we are until 17. Yesterday evening, we were received with a bbq typical oil-based! Meat tour in oil, bread in oil, salad oil ... Brief oily but still very good. Especially that of typical shooters were added and they have also been impressed by the willingness of a large red ... Digestive time until then that our dear mayor decides to bring the coach Drive to explain his strategies for success slalom speech Bosnian (he had imagined he could understand more after 2 shooters!). ah yes, and beer piazetta also followed the expedition. He wanted pe do so also because the coach away at dinner, he proposed the villa and the hand of his son Val! yes! yes! Val is all the rage among the organizers here ... very handy indeed!

Until 17, it should be hard enough to write to you again, but worry not for us, everything goes well. It's hot, the water is turquoise, the sprint and slalom are superb and the descent, the only comments one receives is that it is VERY beautiful and that anyone can get it! In short, it's flat and it's going to paddle a long time!

With that, we leave you with some pictures. A + fans!
